TN Visa – Sylviculturist (and Forestry Specialist)
NAFTA Requirements for TN Visa as a Sylviculturist or Forestry Specialist.
To qualify for TN visa status under NAFTA as a Sylviculturist (or Forestry Specialist), an applicant must possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s (Baccalaureate) degree; or
- Licenciatura Degree.
Additional Guidance:
A legacy INS manual provides that Sylviculturists "plan and supervise the growing, protection, and harvesting of trees." NAFTA Handbook (1999). According to this manual, a Bachelor’s (Baccalaureate) degree or Licenciatura degree in forestry or a related field or a state or provincial license is the minimum entry requirement for this occupation. Id.
However, it's likely that this latter sentence only refers to the Forester occupation as the U.S. immigration regulations do not list a state or provincial license as one of the credentials that would qualify an individual for TN status as a Sylviculturist.
