TN Visa – Hotel Manager
NAFTA Requirements for TN Visa as a Hotel Manager.
To qualify for TN visa status under NAFTA as a Hotel Manager, an applicant must possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s (Baccalaureate) degree in hotel / restaurant management;
- Licenciatura Degree in hotel / restaurant management;
- Post-Secondary Diploma in hotel / restaurant management and three years experience in hotel / restaurant management; or
- Post Secondary Certificate in hotel / restaurant management and three years experience in hotel / restaurant management.
A “Post Secondary Diploma” is defined as “a credential issued, on completion of two or more years of post secondary education, by an accredited academic institution in Canada or the United States.” 8 C.F.R. § 214.6 (c) n.3.
A “Post Secondary Certificate” is defined as “a certificate issued, on completion of two or more years of post secondary education at an academic institution, by the federal government of Mexico or a state government in Mexico, an academic institution recognized by the federal government or a state government, or an academic institution created by federal or state law.” 8 C.F.R. § 214.6 (c) n.4.
Additional Guidance:
The Hotel Manager is the only TN category that requires a specific degree or post-secondary diploma under the NAFTA TN regulations. Cronin Memo (07-24-00).
